The University of Zaragoza is headquartered in the city, one of the oldest universities of Spain and a major research and development center. Zaragoza is also home to a General Motors – Opel factory and the Spanish Air Force base.

The city’s main airport is ‘Zaragoza Airport’, a small international airport, which is utilized by NASA as a contingency landing site for the Space Shuttle in the case of a Transoceanic Abort Landing (TAL).

Zaragoza is connected by motorway with Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao and Toulouse — all of which are located about 300 kilometres (200 miles) from Zaragoza.

Zaragoza is also connected to the Spanish High Speed railway (Renfe's AVE), by the Madrid-Barcelona high-speed rail line. Madrid is reachable in 1 hour 15 minutes, and Barcelona in approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.

Getting to Zaragoza

Zaragoza Airport is situated 10kms from the city centre, currently there are flights available to and from London, Paris, Milan, Frankfurt, Rome, Madrid, Palma, Tenerife, Santiago, Malaga, Seville, Lanzarote, Lisbon.

Alternatively, flights can be taken into Barcelona or Madrid which are both linked by an efficient high speed train service taking approximately 90 mins to Zaragoza.

Taxis are readily available at all Airports and train stations.
